Short answer: Breathizen contains a 154 mg proprietary blend of mullein (Verbascum thapsus) leaf extract 10:1, ginger (Zingiber officinale) root extract and organic lemon extract. Other ingredients: purified water, glycerin, natural flavors, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate.

Mullein leaf extract (10:1)

Mullein is a tall, woolly-leaved plant found along roadsides across North America and Europe. Herbalists have used its leaves and flowers in teas for the throat and chest for centuries. “10:1” means ten parts of leaf were used to produce one part of extract. Laboratory studies describe mucilage, saponins and flavonoids in the leaf. Human clinical trials on breathing outcomes are few, so we describe mullein as traditional support, not proven treatment. Ginger root extract

Ginger has more than a hundred randomized trials behind it, mostly for nausea. The NCCIH rates it as generally safe in food amounts, with a caution for people on blood thinners. In our blend it adds warming gingerols and rounds out the flavour.

Organic lemon extract

Lemon contributes citrus flavonoids such as hesperidin and eriocitrin, and the clean taste that makes a daily liquid pleasant. Our label lists no vitamin C value, so we make no vitamin C claim.

What the label does not show

A proprietary blend lists a total, here 154 mg, and ingredients in descending order by weight. It does not list each amount. So we know mullein is the largest share and lemon the smallest, but you cannot line our ginger up against a gram-level trial dose, and it would be smaller. The other ingredients

Glycerin and water carry the extracts. Citric acid adjusts acidity. Potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate are common food preservatives that keep a water-based liquid safe after opening. There is no caffeine, no sugar alcohol sweetener and no artificial colour.

Allergy and interaction notes

Ginger and blood thinners: talk to your prescriber first if you take anticoagulants or antiplatelet medicine, or before surgery. Avoid the product if you are allergic to any listed plant.
